Diana Fiedler, born in Góra. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, with a masters in Art Education and another in Drawing & Print-making. Also holds a masters in Fine-Art Photography from the Royal College of Art, London. Currently leads a studio at the University of Arts in Poznań.
Employing a diverse range of media, her work is characterised by a fusion of the biological and the industrial, and draws inspiration from organic bodies, mechanical objects and architectural fragments. Its focus is on how architecture embodies physical and mental structures, and in how those structures bleed into our personal and social identities. The work addresses issues of control, censorship and surveillance within the systems that shape our lives. Recent projects also extend into the acoustic: Grounded in field recording practices, sound is approached as a flow of fluid, resonant, and mutable material—a sonic matter—that courses through the objects and environments that make up an installation.
